The Salamander’s Slipper

“I believed I was a Salamander and it seems that I am nothing but an impediment.” –Zelda Fitzgerald
1996 London. Twenty-one-year-old Amanda, after weathering a lonely upbringing as the only child in a Dickensian commune, had already resigned herself to a dreary life. Until—bloody hell—she spots her doppelganger in a fashion magazine. Before long, people are stopping her on the street requesting autographs. What initially feels like a gut-punch soon morphs into a life-changing opportunity.
Speaking of life-changing, Amanda’s sister Sallie—also believing herself an only child—had traveled from Wisconsin to London to track down the chick who ditched her as a baby. But that plan unravels as she finds herself immersed in the decadent nightclub and modeling scene—and engaged to the illegitimate grandson of Zelda Fitzgerald.
The Salamander’s Slipper follows each sister’s twisty path ultimately igniting in a catastrophic event, which will leave them each hovering between destruction and the opportunity for escape and reinvention.
